Reflecting on 2020

During 2020, we’ve seen the evolution of the plans for Western North York Community Centre. There was a Digital Open House from late November to mid-December to collect your feedback and shape the design features. This new facility will be built in the western part of the Ward, in the Weston and Sheppard area, to fill service gaps. You can access updates by visiting the Create Your Place website.
The Finch West LRT will transform our community. Some of that work has already begun with completing the secondary plan for the Keele and Finch area and the Jane-Finch Initiative’s launch. The latter is about planning for the future of the Jane-Finch intersection and leveraging the LRT investment to benefit local neighbourhoods.
I also advocated for the Jane Finch Hub Community Hub and Centre for the Arts and was able to help bring a firm commitment from Metrolinx as part of the Finch West LRT project. I pressed Metrolinx to keep their word and transfer a plot of land over to the City to facilitate the Hub’s construction. I will continue to work with community groups to develop a plan that sees the project become a reality.
