2nd Annual Tour de University Heights
On Saturday September 27, 2008 the Jane and Finch community will be hosting the 2nd annual Tour de University Heights bike race. Our first Tour de University Heights race in 2007 enabled us to provide 130 youth from priority neighbourhoods in Toronto with free bicycles and helmets as well as summer training with members of the Toronto Police and Ontario Cycling Association to prepare them for the race. As an outcome we were able to generate positive media attention for the area, promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice and forge positive police-youth relations. This year we are expanding the number of racing categories as well as community involvement to include an Elite race, live entertainment and booths for community organizations to provide outreach and information to the community.Date: September 27Time: 9 AM to 5 PM
