Provincial Update: Ontario Expands Social Circles from 5 to 10 People
Provincial Update: Ontario Expands Social Circles from 5 to 10 People The province says that to form a safe social circle, you should follow these steps:
- Step 1: Start with your current circle: the people you live with or those that come into your home.
- Step 2: If your current circle is under 10 people, you can add members to your circle, including other family members or friends so long as they are not in a circle that is too large to merge with yours.
- For example, if a family of 5 wants to begin inviting two cousins to their home, they should only do so if the two cousins are in touch with a maximum of 3 other people, and so long as the total amount of people in the circle ends up adding up to 10.
- If both cousins are already in touch with a circle of their own that is larger than 3 people, the proposed social bubble is actually larger than 10.
- The circle of 10 needs to be a closed circle, meaning, that you and every single one of the people in your circle only socialize with the other 9 people in your circle.
- Step 3: Get agreement from everyone that they will join the circle.
- Step 4: Keep your social circle safe. Maintain physical distancing with anyone outside of your circle.
- Step 5: Be true to your social circle. No one should be a part of more than one circle.
