Tour de Black Creek 2012. Help Cheer On Our Local Youth

Location: Driftwood Community Centre, 4401 Jane Street

Saturday, September 22 marks the 6th exciting year of the Tour de Black Creek here in our very own neighbourhood. Come out and cheer on our local youth at the Driftwood Community Centre between 9 am - 2:30 pm on September 22 or even from your balcony or front porch!This greatly anticipated annual event features an exciting bike race for youth aged 10-16 along the residential streets of Driftwood Avenue, Jane Street, and Stong Court. The 150 participants in 10 teams participated in an 8-week healthy lifestyle program and a safety training day during which they learned the rules of the road and safe cycling. At the race each youth participant receives a free bicycle and safety helmet. The winning team will be awarded the George Terry Cup in honour of the late Trinidadian-Canadian elite cyclist.Racing begins at Driftwood Community Centre (4401 Jane Street) from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm with a special ride-through at 10:00 am.A special thanks goes out to the Children’s Breakfast Club, Toronto Police, Fire and EMS and all volunteers and sponsors who make this wonderful event possible each and every year.
