York-West city councillor wants city to examine snow removal contracts

680News staff Feb 17, 2013 TORONTO, Ont. – A debate over snow removal is expected to take place at city hall next week, in the aftermath of the massive February 8 snowstorm that brought many roads to a halt.The Toronto Sun is reporting that Coun. Anthony Perruzza will ask his colleagues to order a review of the city’s current snow removal contracts.The councillor for the York-West district says the cleanup in his ward was ‘shoddy’.Public-works chairman Coun. Denzil Minnan-Wong meanwhile said there is already a review of the response to the storm underway.Putting things in perspective, Minnan-Wong added that the city has to maintain several hundred kilometres of roads, not an easy task.
