2017 Toronto Urban Design Awards call for entries

The biennial Toronto Urban Design Awards return this year, and beginning today, designers, developers, project owners, community groups, design students and others are invited to enter eligible projects. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 4. Submission categories include elements, private buildings in context, public buildings in context, small open spaces, large places or neighbourhood designs, visions and master plans, and student projects.The Toronto Urban Design Awards, held by the City of Toronto every second year, recognize achievements in urban design, architecture and landscape architecture. As a growing city, Toronto relies on good design to ensure that it remains functional and attractive, with great architecture and successful public spaces.The awards recognize those who contribute to design and development in this city. Design students are encouraged to enter theoretical or studio projects relating to Toronto.The City will hold an awards ceremony on Wednesday, September 13 to celebrate all entries and announce the winners. The 2017 ceremony is a ticketed event that will bring together, in recognition and celebration, urban designers, architects, landscape architects, planners, land developers, builders, urban policy makers, design professionals, artists, design students and interested community members.
