Construction Notice: Road Resurfacing on Sheppard Avenue West from Keele Street to Allen Road & Intersection Improvements @ Bakersfield Street

Expected Start Date: June 12, 2017Expected End Date: November 30, 2017*Timeline is subject to change.The City of Toronto will resurface Sheppard Avenue West from east of Keele Street to approximately 170 metres west of the Allen Road. The project will also include changes including:• improvements to the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Bakersfield Street• widening Sheppard Avenue West between Tuscan Gate and the CN railway underpass bridge• widening Bakersfield Street one lane to the west from Sheppard Avenue to Regis CrescentOur inspection of the road shows the need to fix the curb and sidewalk and resurface the road to bring them to a state of good repair. Widening the Sheppard Avenue will result in giving separate access to the new Toronto York Subway Station. Widening the Bakersfield Street will improve the traffic flow going south to the station as well west to the Sheppard Avenue West.This work is part of the Council-approved 2017 Capital Works Program to renew aging city roads and sidewalk for current and future needs.WORK DETAILSThe City’s contractor will move on-site with equipment and prepare the work area before construction begins. Construction crews will then:• Dig up the road surface• Re-align maintenance holes and catch basins• Repair curbs, gutters and driveways• Complete intersection work and road widening• Repave the road surfaceWHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION• You will experience dust, noise and other inconveniences. The City will make efforts to reduce impacts. Your patience is appreciated.• Further notice will be provided to property owners who must remove items located within City property limits (boulevard), such as decorative objects.
