City Council Updates

Shoreham Community Safety Hub

MM16.49 - Establishing a community safety hub at Shoreham Court - by Councillor Anthony Perruzza, seconded by Mayor Olivia Chow

Motion: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2024.MM16.49

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml_i1762cC4&t=31003s

Community members in Shoreham Court have advocated for supports on site, including Community Police Officers, mental health, and others.  Following back-to-back shootings at the end of February that left a teenager seriously injured and a father of four dead, at Council we moved to establish a community safety hub at Shoreham Court.

Extension of Application Date for Property Tax Relief Program

MM16.47 - Extending 2024 Application Due Dates for Property Tax and Utility Relief programs for Low-Income Seniors and Low-Income Disabled Persons - by Councillor Anthony Perruzza, seconded by Councillor James Pasternak

Motion: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2024.MM16.47

Last week at Council we moved to extend the deadline for the Property Tax and Utility Relief programs for Low-income seniors and people with disabilities.  Living in Toronto is expensive enough and this program aims to support people who need it most.  Extending the application deadline will ensure more people can access this vital program.
