Public Input Needed: Etobicoke Community Council Meeting on October 16th
Evaluation and Preservation of 3100 Weston Road: A Step Towards Heritage Designation
On September 6, 2023 I moved a motion requesting City staff to prioritize the evaluation of 3100 Weston Road for a heritage designation.
On October 10, 2023, City staff brought a report to the Toronto Preservation Board that amends the Listing Statement at 3100 Weston Rd to include the former St Basil-the Great-College School and the Marian Shrine of Gratitude. Staff determined that in the meantime before a report on the heritage designation can be completed, an amended Listing Statement could provide greater clarity to inform any future plans for development. Any potential development application for the site will need to submit a Heritage Impact Assessment that considers all elements of the Listing Statement, so the inclusion of the Shrine there is an important step in preserving it.
This report was approved by the Toronto Preservation Board and is now coming to Etobicoke Community Council on Monday, October 16th. The council needs to hear from you. You can attend in person, virtually or submit written comments that will form the public record on this item.
