Speed enforcement cameras should not be speed traps but measures to make communities safer.
Often, drivers are unaware of where these cameras are, and responsible drivers are ticketed despite traveling at speeds close to the posted limits. I’m hearing from many residents that they feel unfairly penalized.
An amendment will be voted on today to Toronto's Vision Zero strategy which directs city staff to review the program and ensure tickets are dispensed fairly and clearly while maintaining the objectives of the Vision Zero program. The review will conclude with a report to City Council in September.
