Welcome TO Winter
Toronto kicks off the Welcome TO Winter program, opening over 50 outdoor ice rinks. These rinks host various activities, including free public skating and instructional programs.
The artificial ice rinks will operate until March 17, 2024, with residents encouraged to check their status on the City's website due to weather fluctuations. Skating hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Partnering with Desjardins Group, the Skate Lending Library provides free access to skates, helmets, and aids at select rinks through a mobile library. Reservations are unnecessary.
City-operated rinks prioritize accessibility, offering sleds for individuals with disabilities during leisure skate programs. Reservations can be made in advance.
Welcome TO Winter promotes ongoing outdoor activities:
- 1,500 parks with 270 km of cleared paths
- 28 toboggan hills
- Over 50 outdoor ice rinks
- Seven snow loops for walking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing
- Skiing and snowboarding at Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre (weather permitting)
- Public washrooms at 100 park locations
- Designated outdoor fire pits and bake ovens for booking
- Open sports courts, including 50 tennis courts
- Seven disc golf locations
- Centennial Park and Allan Gardens Conservatories remain open daily for a winter floral experience.
